Form Tutors & Year Heads

Supporting the curriculum is a strong pastoral structure, where each pupil is known individually and cared for in a secure environment. The key figures in the pastoral system are the Form Tutor and Head of Year, who remain with their pupils throughout lower and upper schools.

Time is spent with the Form Tutor during morning and afternoon registration periods and during PSCHE lessons. It is to the Form Tutor that pupils should feel able to turn when problems arise and whom parents should contact over routine matters. The Form Tutor provides help, support and advice when necessary.

The Head of Year is responsible for the academic progress and general welfare of all the pupils in his/her charge and is responsible for the general day-to-day running of the year group.

The Head of Year and Form Tutors aim to develop a 'team spirit' within the year group and all pupils are encouraged to be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities, including inter-house competitions in sports such as rounders, netball, football and athletics. Other school activities, such as Understanding Industry days and the Talent Show, also utilise the ‘House’ system.

The Year Teams try to involve parents and friends in all aspects of school life and are always pleased to welcome them into school.
