Assessment and testing are an integral part of the whole
learning process at Wakefield City High School. Their purpose
is to inform pupils, teachers, parents and other interested
parties about an individual pupil's progress. The assessment
policy of the school is concerned to enhance pupils' learning
by involving them in the process. This approach is also
intended to:-
- provide feedback to pupils, encourage them to
extend their learning and set targets for future work
- encourage
pupils to recognise their strengths and weaknesses
- help
develop self-esteem and motivation
- provide information
to teachers on the effectiveness of the curriculum offered.
Written statements of attainment, including test results,
are sent to parents at regular intervals and parents are
invited to discuss work and progress with subject teachers. |
