A school that cares
The care of our students is first class, and the transitions
from primary to secondary and from secondary to Further
Education are well planned and supported. At Wakefield
City High School “every person matters” and
we are extremely proud of our reputation as a caring
school.
A climate for learning
At City High we place great value on students respecting
the environment and other people. Our code of conduct
ensures that school is a safe and happy place for everyone
to work in. Expectations of behaviour and appearance
are high. We believe that students who take pride in
themselves learn more effectively and achieve greater
success. As governors, staff, parents and students
we care about our school, our community, our environment
and each other.
Our partnership with parents
Students who have the active support and interest of parents
in their work are far more likely to be successful. We
ask parents to support us and their child to ensure that
they achieve their full potential. If you have any concerns
about your child’s progress – whether academic
or social – please contact the school.
“Attitudes to learning
are good: the school is harmonious because all students
are valued.”

Primary school links
We have excellent links with our feeder primary schools,
which help to ensure a smooth transition for students
into Wakefield City High School. Our induction programme
for students in Years 5 and 6 includes taster days,
visits to lessons and activities, attendance at extended
school activities, a heritage project day, regular
visits by staff to feeder schools and an extensive
liaison programme. |
